Remedies For Indigestion

There are quite a large variety of remedies that have been used over time in relation to indigestion. Some are designed to prevent indigestion and some are designed for giving relief after indigestion is present. Some will help in both ways. Perhaps there are some remedies here that may be of use to the reader.

Some remedies for indigestion:

Ginger
Ginger helps the digestive process by stimulating the intestinal muscles. It also helps to detoxify the stomach, reducing the level of toxins that may be there.

  • Peel and grate some fresh ginger root. Sprinkle a pinch of rock or sea salt over it and a little fresh lemon juice. Eat it regularly 5 minutes before each meal.

  • Another method – Boil several slices of ginger in a cup of water. Drink the liquid after every meal.

Lime

  • Lime assists the digestive tract to dissolve foods more efficiently.

  • Mix lime with ginger for best results.

Garlic

  • Improves digestion

  • Helps stop pathogenic microorganisms from growing in the intestines.

  • Stimulates activity in the digestive tract

  • Mix garlic with your food

  • Alternatively use a garlic supplement

Peppermint

  • Drink peppermint tea during or after a meal.

  • Use peppermint oil capsules

Vinegar

  • Use Apple Cider Vinegar for preference

  • Your body could be needing more acid to digest the food

  • Oil (e.g. extra virgin olive oil) and vinegar salad dressing

Other

  • Liquid chlorophyll

  • Papaya or pawpaw

  • Digestive enzymes

  • Increase your water intake

  • Probiotic supplements to keep intestinal flora in good balance.

  • Kefir or some yoghurts also aid in probiotic balance.

  • Chew your food well and eat slowly.
