Home Remedies for Acne Scars
Water is important for our good health. It is also important for our skin. Drinking enough water helps the skin to repair itself. Therefore it is an important factor to remember when trying to heal acne scars. Adding some freshly squeezed lemon or honey to the water can be useful.
Other drinks that assist in getting rid of acne are freshly squeezed carrot juice, cucumber juice or wheatgrass juice.
Drinking a few cups of rosemary tea each day can be of assistance in treating acne.
Adding rosemary and nettle leaves to a warm bath can help to reduce acne and acne scars.
Vitamins C and E are powerful antioxidants and as such may be of use in acne treatment.
Nutmeg mixed into a paste with raw honey or milk has been found to reduce acne scars in some people. Leave it on for about 35 minutes before washing. There may be a slight amount of tingling when first applied. Using aloe vera after this treatment is said to give faster results.
Other home remedies that help to reduce acne scarring include:
Tomato – puree fresh tomatoes and apply to skin. The anti-oxidant properties help to renew scarred and damaged skin.
Tomato and cucumber face mask – Combining these two vegetables into a face mask helps to reduce the visibility of acne scars.
Egg whites – Dab egg white on acne scars and leave on overnight. This can be helpful in treating acne scars.
Lavender Oil – Essential oils such as lavender oil help to fight acne. Saturate a cotton ball with a few drops of lavender oil and apply to acne scars twice a day.
Almonds and honey – A paste of ground almonds and honey applied as a facial scrub will help to remove oils and dead skin cells. Gently massage the paste onto your face with a hot washer. Rinse off with cold water.
Papaya or Pawpaw – Papaya’s cleansing action and ability to soften dead skin cells, assisting in their removal, is a useful addition to your acne fighting arsenal. Make a pulp of raw papaya and apply to skin.
Honey mix – Mix together half a teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice and egg white. Add either fuller’s earth or brewer’s yeast to make a paste. Apply to acne problem area. Remove with water after 20 minutes.
Apple cider vinegar – This helps clear up scars and marks from acne. It is a good skin toner.
